Anchored out in Oyster Bay

It was a sunny Saturday and we were ready to do boat chores all day, but then our neighbors Len and Ellen cruised back in on the Leena B and said they had spent the night anchored peacefully and we thought, oh that sounds nice! So we stowed all the gear, checked the engines, unplugged from shore power, and pulled away out of Westcott Bay across Long Island Sound.

This was the day being on the water was fun again. The sun was bright, the spray was salty and we were free. We took a sightseeing cruise along Long Island's Gold Coast, and thought maybe our next house should have a croquet lawn. We motored slowly into Oyster Bay past gorgeous wooden sailboats and shiny powerboats. We dropped the anchor! (It took us a few tries actually, but we got it.) And then, like magic, it was sunset.

The next day we ate breakfast in the sun with Billy Joel on Spotify and then got even closer to the giant houses with our dinghy. Boat chores will have to wait. Thanks Oyster Bay!
